As we start to wade through all our possessions in preparation for our departure we have realized something very profound…our 300 square foot apartment is ill-suited for such space consuming endeavors! The good news is that there are lots of other things to stress out about so we don’t have time to focus on any particular problem for very long :).
We are attempting to sort our stuff into several categories: Motorcycle Trip, Honduras (for after the trip), Sell and Give away, and Motorcycle Trip Resupply (since we will be passing through Santa Cruz, California on our way down south). Some items are very easy to categorize, others, not so much. By far the easiest category is for the Motorcycle Trip. Hemmed in tightly by volume and weight constraints we are forced to be very particular and brutal in our selections for this category. On the other end of the spectrum is Honduras, everything seems like it would be useful and nice to have when we get to Honduras, but how much should we actually pay to ship twice? We have to ship it to New Orleans where it is put on a container and shipped to Honduras – the crazy part is they will actually drive it up to the small rural village where we will be moving – try and beat that Amazon! Sorting through all the clothes, electronics, toiletries, camping gear, motorcycle gear, and not to mention the dreaded miscellaneous is going to take awhile.
We still don’t have a definite leave date yet, but hope to be on the road around the 17th of May. Sooner would be better, but the chance of that happening is small with the sheer number of details that still need to be worked out.
Love that you guys are doing this blog, it will be a great way to keep up with what you are doing!! Love you both lots:) Cindy, Daymen and the boys
Looking forward to following your adventures. So excited that you follow and live your dreams.
Hi Chris and Sharon. It looks like you are/have been taken serious prep for your trip. Of course the wind will blow in your hair. Of course, I would be driving a well equipped RV with all the comforts. Thinking back a long time ago I would still not have the courage to engage your challenge, even with an RV. But, that’s me. My guess is that you will have many pleadings and discussions with Jesus. And at least, use large format pictures – the bigger the better. It doesn’t cost any weight. Love, Uncle John
So glad to hear from you! We hope you are doing well. When the weather is inclement we certainly would not mind having an RV instead of our motorcycles to travel on. We plan to see you in November when we are in Bend! Love you!
