Hi Chris and Sharon, OK seeing the pictures starting to appear. Just a little hint from an ole photographer, force flash when you are getting your faces are blacked out. Make the flash force instead of auto flash. It is the “back lighting” that you are getting in trouble

Actually, our camera lives on forced flash :), sometimes the problem is the full sun is quite a bit brighter than our small built-in flash and so it can’t always get rid of the shadows. The situation with that particular picture was that it was an action shot, so the camera was set on ‘burst mode’ (10 shots per second); which does not allow flash of any kind.
